Mark D. Nelson

President - Chief Executive Officer

As a former attorney in Washington, D.C., a senior executive of a Fortune 300 company, and Chief Operating Officer of one of the largest, privately-held energy service providers, Mark saw a gap in the industrial services market and set out to build something unique.

Mark wanted to create a new and different type of home for established, high performing businesses whose owners were ready to take their companies to the next evolution. In 2015, Bristol Bay Native Corporation backed this vision, leading to the founding of BBI.  Since then, BBI has grown significantly and rapidly. With more than 2,000 employees and over $2 billion in annual revenue, BBI companies perform critical infrastructure services in the utilities, construction, energy, fuel distribution, and manufacturing sectors.

Mark’s focus remains on driving strategy, fostering an innovation culture, cultivating relationships, pursuing prospects, and ensuring that each of BBI’s companies is fully backed and positioned for long-term success.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama and a Juris Doctor from Stanford University. He is a member of several advisory and charitable boards.

  WE’RE NOT JUST
   INVESTORS,
    WE'RE BACKERS

THE BBI APPROACH
Bristol Bay Industrial is designed to keep companies evolving. We back owners who champion their companies and employees alike.

BBI is proud to have developed a model that is inherently distinct. By partnering with owners, rather than cashing out sellers, we secure futures, empower leaders, and back businesses designed to thrive for decades. We balance an aggressive, growth perspective with a responsibility to the businesses, employees, families, and shareholders who rely on BBI’s steady leadership. Our partnerships are purposeful, fully vested, and designed to create solutions for growing and changing industries.

A winning model.

BBI seeks out companies whose leaders look to grow their business, not walk away. Our acquisitions are built on the understanding that we are all in this together. Owners keep their names, their brands, and have the runway to evolve their businesses, while BBI provides the funding, bridge resources, and strategic connections necessary to see leaders through, not out.

Owner’s mindset.

BBI was founded with owners front of mind. Our approach, our team, and our financial backer were all strategically cultivated to secure futures and be the difference in the companies, employees, and shareholders we serve. We acquire innovative companies and provide owners with the capital, patience, and strategic support they need to further disrupt the industrial services markets.

A long lens.

There are no massive consolidations or quick flips in our strategy. Through a flexible investment approach, mutual trust, and candid communication, we support our member companies to drive the pace of the market, while building enduring, purpose-driven businesses that stand the test of time.

Patient capital.

BBI’s advantageous, single-backer business model allows us to focus on growing our companies, rather than finding the next investor. At BBI, your company will find a home designed to support growth, foster innovation, and create lasting impact—all while celebrating the people and leadership that make it exceptional.

Individualized approach.

We avoid a one size fits all approach and customize deal structures to meet individual owner and company needs. Each partnership is purposeful, meticulously designed, and fully backed, ensuring sustainable growth and enduring success.
